Chiropractic care

"The body works in an alternating pattern of stable segments connected by mobile joints. If this pattern is altered - dysfunction and compensation will occur. " (Gray Cook) Chiropractic treatment focuses on restoring the body's overall function by addressing these mechanical disorders.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture arises from the latin words Acus (needle) and pongee (to pierce).  This Traditional Chinese Medicine Therapy is based on the concept of “qi” (pronounced chee) or vital energy of life.  The qi flows through 12 channels of the body, which are paired symmetrically and distributed in the left and right side of the body.  During a diseased state, the flow of qi has been disrupted.  The role of acupuncture is to restore the flow of qi by stimulating various “acupuncture points” located on the skin.

Orthotic Therapy

Orthotics are custom-made shoe inserts that help to correct specific foot imbalances. Your feet provide an important foundation for your body and with any variation in foot mechanics, this can result in altered motion throughout the kinematic chain leading to conditions that effect the knee, low back, hip, or sacroiliac joints.  Orthotics will help to restore proper motion in the feet and thus the normal balance and alignment throughout your body.

Laser Therapy

Therapeutic laser therapy is a safe, pain-free way of healing several illnesses and increasing the healing process to reduce your body’s pain naturally. Therapeutic laser therapy can be used for several biological effects to facilitate your body's ability to heal.

Pregnancy and Newborn care

Similar to other posture related musculoskeletal conditions, pregnancy can alter the expecting mother’s normal joint motion and muscular tone to various degrees leading to unwanted pain and discomfort.  Fortunately, like other posture related conditions, these can be managed and treated with the proper treatment protocol.  Dr. Sanford will conduct a thorough examination to assess your health needs and develop a program of care specifically to meet your health care requirements. Studies have shown that the process of birth can cause mechanical stress to our newborn’s spine.  A chiropractic spinal check up of the newborn is beneficial to evaluate and assess any subluxation that has resulted from that mechanical stress.  These subluxations can lead a variety of symptoms in the newborn such as sleeplessness, hyperactivity, and vomiting to mention a few.  A healthier spine can improve your life!

Sports Injury Treatment

Dr. Sanford's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. This combination provides him with a comprehensive understanding of biomechanics, functional movement, and injury mechanisms, allowing him to effectively assess, treat, and manage athletes across all phases of performance and rehabilitation. Dr. Sanford holds advanced certifications that further enhance his clinical effectiveness, including Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Level 3 Practitioner certifications in Medical, Fitness, Power, Golf, and Junior, as well as Level 2 certification as a Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) practitioner. At the core of his approach is the belief that rehabilitation should not only restore function but also enhance overall performance and reduce future injury risk.

Flexion/Distraction

Flexion/Distraction is a gentle, non-thrust manual therapy technique most commonly associated with chiropractic and spinal decompression treatment. It is typically performed on a specialized table that can move and bend in controlled directions while the practitioner applies precise hand contacts to the spine. The goal is to: Reduce pressure on spinal discs by creating mild decompression. Improve spinal joint mobility in stiff or restricted segments. Decrease nerve root irritation by opening the spaces where nerves exit. Reduce muscle guarding and spasm through gentle movement. Improve circulation and nutrition to discs and surrounding tissues.

Rehabilitation

There exists an integral relationship between the muscular system, skeletal system and the nervous system, so with any treatment protocol, therapy should address ALL of these components.  Research has indicated that a large majority of postural disorders are a result of muscular imbalances, which in turn, alter joint mobility/stability and ultimately the nervous system.  It is important to address these imbalances and incorporate therapeutic measures to correct them and restore proper joint motion and ultimately, your health and wellness.

TCS Baseball

A properly functioning body allows a baseball player to play in the most efficient way possible. At TCS Baseball, we will evaluate and analyze our player's physical capabilities to determine if any limitations exist. These limitations can adversely affect the various biomechanics involved and potentially lead to injury or inefficient movements that can potentially affect performance. Our goal is to highlight and correct these limitations by developing and implementing a fitness program to address our findings.

Dr. Timothy Sanford, DC, BSc (Kinesiology)

CEO & Founder

Dr. Tim grew up in a small rural Southwestern Ontario community and was actively involved in a variety of sports since he was “knee high to a grasshopper”.  It was this love for sports that fueled his desire to learn more about how the body functions and ultimately took him to the University of Waterloo to study Kinesiology, which is the study of human movement.  Upon completion of his B. Sc. In Kinesiology, his academic journey led him to the Windy City to attend the National College of Chiropractic. Dr. Tim returned to Canada to start his Doctor of Chiropractic career of over 2 decades now. Dr. Tim is living his dream!! Helping to improve the quality of his patients’ lives on a daily basis.  Although his athletic career is more of a recreational nature now, he continues his love for sports by volunteering for a variety of local sports teams as well as being actively involved himself.  One of Dr. Tim’s favourite youth sports was golf.  Dr. Tim has taken his love for this game to the next level by attending the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) out in Oceanside, California where he has taken a variety of courses offered by TPI and is one of only a handful of practitioners worldwide that has received certifications in all 5 designations offered by the Titleist Performance Institute. After a thorough examination, your program of care will be designed to meet your health care needs and monitored regularly to ensure optimal care.  Dr. Tim utilizes a variety of soft tissue techniques, spinal manipulation/mobilizations, mobility/stability exercises, Flexion/Distraction, various modalities (ultrasound, laser, IFC) and acupuncture. If you would like to discuss your health related needs, feel free to contact Dr. Sanford!  He looks forward to hearing from you.
